La Hawla Wa La Quwwata Illa Bellah

Assalaamu Alaikum warahmatu Allahi wabarakaatuh my fellow slaves of Allah!

I hope you all prayed Fajr today! =D (That's what I ask my friends every morning!)
So I was on Google Buzz the other day, and I saw a lot of my friends posting up new posts about life and stuff. Their posts were exteremely enjoyable and were coming together very smoothly until I found myself reading "isA" and "mA" over and over. I was so mad, subhanAllah. It really bugs me to see the new chat lingo our Ummah has been using lately:
  1. InshaAllah to iA or isA
  2. MashaAllah to mA
  3. SubhanAllah to sA
  4. Jazaaka/Jazaaki Allahu Khairan to JAK
  5. Assalaamu Alaikum to AA or ASAK
  6. Warahmatu Allahi wabarakaatuh to WAB or WRB
  7. AlhamduLillah to AL
  8. Subhaanahu wa ta'ala to SWT
  9. Salla Allahu 'alayhi wassallam to S
  10. Peace be upon him to PBUH
  11. Radiya Allahu 'anhu/'anha to RA
  12. And anything else there is out there.

SubhanAllah, I think it's very disturbing and improper when I see people spend so many wasted hours writing random emails, and then when it comes to writing "Assalaamu Alaikum warahmatu Allahi wabarakaatuh", they write "ASAK WR WB". Really, people of the world? Is that what we have come to? That we write so much, but when it comes to the most important sentence of the whole text, we write it in shorthand? Inna Lellah..

Let me know if you disagree, then inshaAllah we can debate this issue later. =D

Love for the sake of Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala,

Bint Khaled

Subanaallah!!! I Was going to write about this!!! i actually read a fatwa about abbreviating words, and it was said that it's not permissible because it takes the meaning away from the word i believe, may Allah have mercy on me if i am wrong (ameen)subanaallah ur so right, it is disturbing!

@Life's Balance Beam: Allahu a'lam if it goes under 'haraam' or not, because we also must keep in mind that these people are better off than those who say nothing at all. Jazaaki Allahu khairan for sharing!

@Yasser: Jazaaku Allahu khairan yaa 'Amu! Your comment made my day, and put a smile on my face walHamduLillah. Send my salaam to el-gamee'!

Hey hey Assalamu alaykum,

you commented to my comment on sarah's post. :) so I stalked out your blog... anyways, I totally agree, I once had this "argument (for the lack of a better word)" as to why they would shorten Assalamu Alaykum to AA. Like these words are one of the most essential and praiseworthy and we shorten them and not do so with other "academic" words... thats all... BYE!
